About Lake Chatuge
Lake Chatuge, located on the Hiwassee River in western North Carolina and North Georgia, is 13 miles long with 133 miles of shoreline and over 7200 acres of surface area. Chatuge is considered the premier lake in the area due to its size, depth and mountain views and is often referred to as the “Jewel of the Mountains.” Sport fishing is popular at Chatuge, both in the reservoir and in the Hiwassee River below the dam. The water level of Lake Chatuge varies by about 9 feet during the course of a normal year.
